Basketball Recap: Loganville Christian Academy Falls Short of George Walton Academy in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Loganville Christian Academy can now relate to. They fell just short of the George Walton Academy Bulldogs by a score of 43-40 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 42-37 loss back in January.

Despite the loss, Loganville Christian Academy had strong showings from Dachelle Lucas, who went 7-for-17 on her way to 18 points, and Sanai Cyrus, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Lucas has posted since back in November of 2024.

Leading George Walton Academy to victory were Leila Mathis and Ashley Hill. Mathis dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards, while Hill put up 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Mathis is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 46% in the last three games she's played.

Loganville Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-14. As for George Walton Academy, their record now sits at 18-6.

Loganville Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for George Walton Academy, they will face off against Athens Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Athens Christian will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something George Walton Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
