Basketball Game Preview: Sahuarita Mustangs vs. Palo Verde Titans

Sahuarita hasn't had much luck against Palo Verde recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Sahuarita Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Palo Verde Titans at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Tuesday, Sahuarita was beaten by Cholla 88-48. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Chargers are ranked 61st).

Meanwhile, Palo Verde entered their game against Sabino on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Palo Verde took a 66-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sabino.

This is the second loss in a row for Sahuarita and nudges their season record down to 8-12. As for Palo Verde, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-4.

Everything came up roses for Sahuarita against Palo Verde in their previous matchup back in February of 2021, as the squad secured a 69-30 win. Will Sahuarita repeat their success, or does Palo Verde have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
