Baseball Game Preview: Oldenburg Academy Twisters vs. Milan Indians

The Oldenburg Academy Twisters will take on the Milan Indians at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Things were looking good for Oldenburg Academy after they put the first run on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 4-1 to Rushville. The Twisters have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oldenburg Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Holder, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Milan came up short against Southwestern on Monday and fell 9-4.

Noah Morgan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Milan's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Grant Langferman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Oldenburg Academy now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Milan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oldenburg Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Oldenburg Academy took their victory against Milan when the teams last played on May 8th by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Twisters since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
