Athens dropped their record down to 7-13 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morenci Bulldogs. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 15-2 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Morenci, they pushed their record up to 10-13-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games.

For Morenci's part, Blake Moran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Moran is becoming a predictor of Morenci's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 3-1 (and 7-12-1 when he doesn't). Moran was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Gould, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Collin Blaker, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

While Athens had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
