Baseball Recap: 12 Straight Road Wins for Campbellsport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Campbellsport). They blew past the Mayville Cardinals 13-3 on Tuesday. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cardinals, too.

Riley Kohlmann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brody Nolan was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jace Goebel also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Nolan wasn't the only one making solid contact: Campbellsport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Campbellsport pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Mayville, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Campbellsport will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
