Newcomb won the last time they faced Pine Hill and things went their way on Saturday too. The Newcomb Skyhawks walked away with a 44-35 victory over the Pine Hill Warriors. The win was familiar territory for the Skyhawks who have now won eight contests in a row.

Newcomb's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lethia Yazzie, who posted 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Those eight boards gave Yazzie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makya Nelson, who had 13 points.

Newcomb smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Leilani Charley and Kirra Smith certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Charley earned seven points along with five rebounds and four blocks, while Smith dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Charley is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game.

Newcomb's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Pine Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Newcomb didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-42 win against Wingate on the 21st. As for Pine Hill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-37 victory against Navajo Pine on the 21st.
