Football Recap: Great Oak Wins Going Away Against Rancho Verde

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Vista Murrieta, Great Oak was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Rancho Verde Mustangs 31-6. The Wolfpack pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.

Trent Lux was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 203 yards and two TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. 83 of Lux's passing yards were hauled in by Logan Messier, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Great Oak's run defense was locked in: Rancho Verde could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Shea McCormick for the heroic effort on defense: he. Great Oak's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.8.

Great Oak's defense didn't let C. J. Thompson., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Ryder Smith was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

The victory got Great Oak back to even at 1-1. As for Rancho Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
