Basketball Recap: Houghton Takes a Loss

Houghton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 52-36 fall against the Gladstone Braves. While losing is never fun, the Gremlins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Braves are ranked 42nd).

Lillie Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gladstone, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 19 boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Gladstone's points. Mayce Hanson was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on her way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Houghton's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Gladstone, their victory bumped their record up to 21-2.

Houghton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gladstone, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-47 win against Negaunee on the 7th.
