Basketball Recap: Wallkill Takes a Loss

Wallkill came up into this matchup off a tough 24-point loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders by a score of 57-55 on Saturday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Wallkill lost, don't look at Zoe Mesuch. Despite the final result, she went 11 for 25 on her way to 34 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Mesuch's afternoon made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Beatrice Hunter, who posted 12 points.

Wallkill's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Monroe-Woodbury, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Wallkill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-34 victory against Rondout Valley on the 7th. As for Monroe-Woodbury, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-51 win against Newburgh Free Academy on the 7th.
