St. Marys' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Northern Potter as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Flying Dutch have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Avery Eckels made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, St. Marys let Kelsie Fledderman and Addison Beimel run wild. Fledderman scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Beimel scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Beimel also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Taylor Gornati was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
St. Marys kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, DuBois Central Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Glendale on Friday, taking the game 3-0. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Rylee Kulbatsky was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 21 over seven innings pitched. Kulbatsky was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marina Hanes, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
St. Marys' victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for DuBois Central Catholic, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
