Eastlake got a massive performance out of Charley Solis, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Solis a new career-high. Samantha Ponce was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-5.
Solis wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Eastlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The Falcons are a perfect 13-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Montwood fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Socorro on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 8-7. The Rams' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Grace Ponzio made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Trinity Munoz, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Eastlake's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Montwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-7.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eastlake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Montwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
