Football Recap: Springstead Comes Up Short

Springstead fell victim to Gaither and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of the Cowboys. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Cowboys: they've now lost three in a row.

Aidan Colman threw for 67 yards on eight of 16 attempts. Braxton Leal was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards. On the ground, William Figueroa rushed for 40 yards.

Ryan Browning was nothing short of spectacular for Gaither: he threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 32 yards. Ryan Hamilton also helped out with an impressive 103 receiving yards.

Springstead now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Gaither, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springstead will take on Wiregrass Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gaither, they will challenge Wharton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
