Weeki Wachee is 1-8 against Hernando since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hornets will head out to square off against the Leopards at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Weeki Wachee will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Crystal River, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Hornets strolled past the Pirates with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 36-20. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Weeki Wachee's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Leelen Wright, who gained 146 total yards and three touchdowns, and Richard Hanshaw, who threw for 103 yards and two TDs. Wright's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 119 rushing yards.
Weeki Wachee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 225 rushing yards in three consecutive games.
Weeki Wachee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Keavin Moss and Josiah Ojeda.
Meanwhile, Hernando never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Seminole, posting a 71-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Leopards, who have now won three contests by 33 points or more so far this season.
Weeki Wachee better keep an eye on Michael Saltsman. He was instrumental in Hernando's win, throwing for 379 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushing for 61 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards Saltsman has posted since back in November of 2024. Hernando's leading receiver Kamoni Dotson was Saltsman's top target yet again, picking up 240 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Weeki Wachee's record now sits at 7-1. As for Hernando, their record is now 6-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Weeki Wachee has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 202 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hernando struggles in that department as they've been averaging 167.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Weeki Wachee didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Hernando when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 7-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
