Baseball Recap: Beekmantown Takes a Loss

Beekmantown and Peru squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Beekmantown had to settle for second. They lost 9-3 to the Nighthawks. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Nighthawks recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Steven Bronson put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Bronson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Beekmantown is 3-1 when Bronson posts three or more hits, but 7-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Parker Broughton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Beekmantown: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise.

Beekmantown's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Peru, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

As of now, neither Beekmantown nor the Nighthawks have any future games scheduled.
