Football Game Preview: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Hobgood Charter Raiders

The Mattamuskeet Lakers will face off against the Hobgood Charter Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mattamuskeet is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Mattamuskeet's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Bear Grass Charter on Friday. They were dealt a 48-0 defeat at the hands of the Bears. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Lakers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, Hobgood Charter made sure to put some points up on the board against Columbia on Friday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 38-14 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Hobgood Charter's win came from a few key players Mattamuskeet will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Armanti Alston, who rushed for 113 yards and two scores on only 11 carries. Those 113 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Tutor, who rushed for 122 yards and one TD on only 15 carries.

Hobgood Charter was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 362 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Hobgood Charter didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Alston led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

The victory got Hobgood Charter back to even at 4-4. As for Mattamuskeet, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Mattamuskeet suffered a grim 45-20 defeat to Hobgood Charter in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Lakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
