Basketball Recap: Legion Collegiate Academy Comes Up Short

Legion Collegiate Academy played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Northmont Thunderbolts 70-40.

Legion Collegiate Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Maddox Cottman and Kenyn Walker. Cottman posted 11 points, while Walker earned seven points and six rebounds. That's the most boards Walker has posted since back in November of 2024.

Legion Collegiate Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Northmont, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legion Collegiate Academy will face off against Mountain View Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Legion Collegiate Academy likes a good challenge. As for Northmont, they will take on Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Northmont is facing Fairmont at the right time seeing as Fairmont is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
