Basketball Recap: Shining Rock Classical Academy Comes Up Short

Shining Rock Classical Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 79-66 to the Nantahala Hawks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-44 back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Shining Rock Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Hudson Moody, who posted 32 points. With that strong performance, Moody is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Joey Messer, who had 13 points.

Shining Rock Classical Academy's record is now 1-11. As for Nantahala, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7.

Shining Rock Classical Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Temple Baptist at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Temple Baptist knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Shining Rock Classical Academy likes a good challenge. As for Nantahala, they and Hayesville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Hayesville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
