Baseball Recap: Barnwell Victorious

Barnwell was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Timberland on Sunday. The Barnwell Warhorses never let the Timberland Wolves get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Warhorses haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Jax Mead was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mead was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Cameron Austin and Tommy Reid did most of the damage at the plate: Austin scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Reid scored a run and stole a base. That's the most runs Austin has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hayden Pierce, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Barnwell hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Timberland struck out 12 times.

The win got Barnwell back to even at 1-1. As for Timberland, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Barnwell will head out to take on Hilton Head Island at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. As for Timberland, they will be playing at home against Lowcountry Leadership at 6:30 p.m. on March 10th.
