Baseball Recap: Dixie's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Dixie came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Hurricane Tigers as they made off with a 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Flyers, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Dixie got a massive performance out of Weston Gilmore, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Gilmore has become a key player for the Flyers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carter Turley, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Dixie lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Dixie pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hurricane, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Dixie will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hurricane: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
