Football Recap: Muskogee's Winning Streak Snapped at 15 Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Muskogee can now relate to. They were just a hair shy of victory on Saturday and fell 26-25 to the Choctaw Yellowjackets. The Roughers' defeat signaled the end of their 15-game winning streak dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Muskogee lost, don't look at Jamarian Ficklin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 154 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Pj Wallace also helped out as he racked up 128 rushing yards.

Ficklin was just one part of a punishing run game: Muskogee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matches.

Landon Gatson was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 27 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 12 yards and one touchdown. What's more, he also racked up 150 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Deshawn 'Juju' Smith, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, Muskogee fell to 12-1. As for Choctaw, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

As of now, neither Muskogee nor Choctaw have any future games scheduled.
