Basketball Recap: Marist Piles Up the Points Against North Springs

Marist won the last time they faced North Springs and things went their way on Thursday too. The Marist War Eagles took their matchup with ease, bagging a 68-40 win over the North Springs Spartans. The War Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.

Marist's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jay Walsh led the charge by going 8 of 11 en route to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Ritger, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 12 points and three blocks.

Marist was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Marist has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32 points. As for North Springs, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Marist wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-55 defeat against Southwest DeKalb on the 24th. North Springs has also already played their next game, a 75-47 victory against Druid Hills on the 24th.
