Recap: Wauneta-Palisade vs. Dundy County-Stratton

It was all tied up at the half for Wauneta-Palisade and Dundy County-Stratton on Friday, but Wauneta-Palisade stepped up in the second half. Wauneta-Palisade snuck past Dundy County-Stratton with a 30-26 win. 30 seems to be a good number for Wauneta-Palisade as the team scooped up a win with the same point total in their previous game.

Junior Austen Rozelle, who rushed for 108 yards and 1 touchdown, was a major factor in the success. In fact, with 12 tackles Rozelle was a force on both sides of the ball. Senior Dennis Cavanaugh was in the mix, too, providing Wauneta-Palisade with 2 touchdowns.

Dundy County-Stratton's loss came about despite a quality game from sophomore Serbando Diaz, who rushed for 164 yards and 1 touchdown. Junior Dominic Sis was in the mix, too, providing they with 2 touchdowns.

The victory bumped Wauneta-Palisade's record up to 2-0. The loss dropped Dundy County-Stratton back to even at 1-1.

Wauneta-Palisade will look to defend their home turf next week against Medicine Valley. Dundy County-Stratton have some extra time to regroup and restrategize before their next contest, which is against Kimball at 7:00 PM in two weeks. Dundy County-Stratton continues their travels as they hit the road for the second straight contest.
