Softball Recap: Mize Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Mize won the last time they faced Richton and things went their way on Thursday too. Mize came out on top against Richton by a score of 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Ella Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Lila Gordon was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was AK Easterling, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Mize was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richton only posted a batting average of .179.

Mize's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Richton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mize will square off against Heidelberg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Mize is facing Heidelberg at the right time seeing as Heidelberg is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Richton, they will take on Sacred Heart at 6:30 p.m. on April 4.
