Baseball Game Preview: Medford Mustangs vs. Lynn Classical Rams

Medford is 2-8 against Lynn Classical since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Mustangs will head out to challenge the Rams at 4:15 p.m. Medford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Lynn Classical will be up against a hot Medford team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Mustangs came out on top against Somerville by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Highlanders on their field since May 21, 2019.

Travers Moodie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Medford's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 2-4-1 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on David Crohan, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jayden Burns also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Lynn Classical's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Revere by a score of 1-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Rams were not able to get on the board.

Medford's victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Lynn Classical, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.

Lynn Classical's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Medford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Lynn Classical, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain Medford's hitters?

Medford came up short against Lynn Classical when the teams last played on April 10th, falling 5-2. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
