Baseball Recap: Oxford Comes Up Short

Oxford had lost seven straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it eight. They came up short against the Bishop Shanahan Eagles, falling 13-4. The Hornets were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Cam Weaver made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Kearney, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for Bishop Shanahan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. That looming 13-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Bishop Shanahan's side, Kieran Deal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Deal was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Bishop Shanahan: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Henry Lamb was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Bishop Shanahan's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Bobby Grawl also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
