Softball Recap: Newport Takes a Loss

Newport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 8-1 to the Trumann Wildcats.

Newport saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Steward, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Steward brought in this season.

Newport's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Trumann, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.

Coming up, Newport will welcome Hoxie at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Trumann, they will head out to challenge Stuttgart at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
