Baseball Preview: University Titans vs. West Port Wolf Pack
University is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will face off against the West Port Wolf Pack at 6:30 p.m. University is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
University lost 9-2 to New Smyrna Beach on Tuesday.
University saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isiah Mejia, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, West Port came up short against Santa Fe on Tuesday, falling 22-10. The Wolf Pack haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Ahmari Dixon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. West Port is 2-1 when Dixon posts two or more runs, but 1-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Manny Rivera, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Even though they lost, West Port always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
University now has a losing record of 7-8-2. As for West Port, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.
