Recap: United Longhorns vs. ThunderRidge Grizzlies

The United Longhorns's 22-9 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a serious blow against ThunderRidge on Saturday, falling 76-43. While losing is never fun, United can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 550th in Texas, while ThunderRidge is ranked eighth in Colorado).

ThunderRidge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tommy Wight, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The matchup was Wight's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Charlie Spann, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for United and nudges their season record down to 6-10. As for ThunderRidge, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

United will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against East Central at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. East Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 718 points over their last ten contests. As for ThunderRidge, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Hopefully Mullen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
