Capital dropped down to 5-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were dealt a 47-6 loss at the hands of the Lakes Lancers. The Cougars were red-hot offensively heading into the game (they scored no less than 31 points in the three contests prior), but the Lancers' defense proved too tough.

As for Lakes, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.5 points on average this season.

Lakes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jadis Lefono, who threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Those 216 passing yards gave Lefono a new career-high. Another receiver making a difference was Ean Owens, who picked up 158 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Looking ahead, Capital will be playing in front of their home fans against Gig Harbor at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lakes, they will head out on the road to square off against Mount Tahoma at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Lancers 6.5, the T-Birds 9.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
