Baseball Recap: Woodhaven Wins Going Away Against Lincoln Park

Woodhaven got themselves on the board against Lincoln Park on Monday, but Lincoln Park never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Railsplitters. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Talan Holladay-Smith looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Woodhaven let Lucas Farner and Jace Davis run wild. Farner got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Davis went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Davis has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Tristan Spencer, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Woodhaven is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Park, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Woodhaven is set to take on their familiar foe Trenton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 2.4, the Trojans 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Lincoln Park will challenge rival Edsel Ford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
