Football Recap: Park Vista Cobras vs. Santaluces Chiefs

After flying high against Olympic Heights last Friday, Park Vista came back down to earth. The Cobras came up short against the Santaluces Chiefs on Monday, falling 27-7. The Cobras haven't had much luck with the Chiefs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Even if they lost, Park Vista's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Santaluces' QB won't forget Daevon Debat anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Debat is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another thorn in Santaluces' side was Andrew Bloomquist, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Kelsey Gerald Gerald was his usual excellent self, rushing for 158 yards and one score while picking up 8.8 yards per carry for Santaluces. Gerald's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Mariconi, who threw for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Park Vista's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Santaluces, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3.

Park Vista will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Leonard at 6:30 p.m. on the 24th.
