Softball Preview: Gresham Gophers vs. Clackamas Cavaliers
Gresham and Clackamas are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Gresham Gophers will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Clackamas Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, it was close, but Gresham sidestepped Sandy for an 8-6 victory.
Meanwhile, Clackamas put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Reynolds. The high-scoring effort was just what Clackamas needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.
Clackamas got a massive performance out of Kamdyn Elkinton, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and a stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sophia Koester, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Gresham's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Clackamas, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
