Football Recap: Summit Tigers vs. Glenwood Springs Demons
Summit unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 34-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glenwood Springs Demons on Saturday. The Tigers have struggled against the Demons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Glenwood Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lamanie Portillo, who rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Those 181 rushing yards gave Portillo a new career-high. Garrett Ingelhart also helped with two scores in total.
The victory got Glenwood Springs back to even at 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Canon City at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Glenwood Springs, they will venture away from home to square off against Northridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
