Basketball Game Preview: Bradwell Institute Tigers vs. New Hampstead Phoenix

Bradwell Institute is 0-3 against New Hampstead since November of 2014 but things could change on Monday. Both will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Bradwell Institute earned a 70-62 victory over Griffin. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Bears are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bradwell Institute got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Christopher Perry out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. The match was Perry's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Zi`On Thomas was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, New Hampstead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brunswick. The game was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but the Phoenix couldn't quite close it out.

New Hampstead's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Bradwell Institute, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Bradwell Institute suffered a grim 56-32 defeat to New Hampstead when the teams last played back in November of 2015. Can Bradwell Institute avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
