Basketball Recap: New Castle's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

New Castle was the 70-59 winner over North Hills when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The New Castle Hurricanes took a hard 69-55 fall against the North Hills Indians on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hurricanes came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Indians are ranked 276th).

New Castle lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kai Cox, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. Damian Harrison was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 14 points.

Even though they lost, New Castle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

New Castle's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-2. As for North Hills, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-10.

As for North Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-39 defeat against Butler on the 21st.
