Football Game Preview: Schuylerville Horses vs. Mechanicville Red Raiders

The Schuylerville Horses will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Mechanicville Red Raiders on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Schuylerville has 18 straight wins, Mechanicville has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Schuylerville's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Watervliet/Heatly to the tune of 56-0. Considering the Horses have won five matchups by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Schuylerville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blake Cumm and Ernie DaCosta. DaCosta has been hot, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played.

Meanwhile, Mechanicville took a blow against Granville/Whitehall on Friday, falling 52-12.

Mechanicville's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Schuylerville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Schuylerville was dealt a bruising 48-0 defeat at the hands of Mechanicville when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can the Horses avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
