The Lodi Flames will square off against the Woodcreek Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lodi is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Lodi is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Atwater by a score of 6-2.
Ashlyn Jubrey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Blank, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Lodi hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Woodcreek won against Folsom on Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Timberwolves put the hurt on Rodriguez with a sharp 10-0 win. The Timberwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Lodi, Woodcreek also got a great game from a two-way player: Maryn Macneil. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Macneil was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Woodcreek got a massive performance out of Nicole Fonti, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Camryn Kelley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Lodi's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Woodcreek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-5.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lodi hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like Woodcreek struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lodi came up short against Woodcreek in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, falling 3-0. Can the Flames avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
