League recap: Village Christian receives boost in rankings after winning week

Behind a 1-1 record over the past week, Village Christian made the biggest jump in the California state rankings, all the way from 424 to 388.

Valley Christian currently leads Olympic with a 16-12 record overall and a 10-2 mark during league play. Maranatha sits three games back in second, with a 7-5 record in league play.

The Crusaders continue to give up the least hits to opposing lineups this season, after surrendering only two in the past week. Valley Christian has surrendered a mere 173 hits this season.

Brandon Ortiz had four hits in four at bats in Village Christian's 6-0 victory over Hemet on Tuesday. He also drove in two runners and scored one runs.
