Baseball Game Preview: Crane Cranes vs. Denver City Mustangs

Crane is 0-3 against Denver City since March of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. The Cranes will square off against the Mustangs at 12:00 p.m.

Crane is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 13-7 to Brownfield.

Meanwhile, Denver City made easy work of Compass Academy on Tuesday and carried off a 16-1 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Andres Ornelas spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gavin Garcia was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Denver City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Denver City's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Crane, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Crane couldn't quite finish off Denver City in their previous matchup back in March and fell 8-6. Can the Cranes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
