Baseball Game Preview: Estancia Bears vs. Santa Rosa Lions

The Estancia Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Santa Rosa Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Estancia has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Raton hit Estancia with a six-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears lost 11-5 to the Tigers. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Joshua Villafuerte made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Leon Maxwell-Preisen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Saturday. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Josiah Barela's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Daniel Zamora was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Andrew Urban also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Santa Rosa pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Estancia, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Estancia might still be hurting after the 21-1 loss they got from Santa Rosa in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
