Baseball Game Preview: Williston Northampton Wildcats vs. Suffield Academy Tigers

The Williston Northampton Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Suffield Academy Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Williston Northampton lost 10-1 to Pomfret School on Friday.

Meanwhile, Suffield Academy came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 27-0 margin over the Titans. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Charlie Gamere looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Suffield Academy got a massive performance out of Chase Beloin, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. The Tigers are undefeated when Beloin posts three or more RBI, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joe Banks, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

Suffield Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .721. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive games.

Suffield Academy pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Williston Northampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Williston Northampton skirted past Suffield Academy 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
