Collin Sexton had a couple of simple goals coming out of high school. Step up as a leader and become a better all-around point guard.

Judging from his freshman season at Alabama, he more than accomplished his goals.

The 6-foot-3 Pebblebrook (Mableton, Ga.) graduate is averaging 19.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the Crimson Tide, who open the NCAA Tournament on Thursday as the No. 9 seed in the East against Virginia Tech.

Sexton appears headed for the lottery in June's NBA Draft.
