Basketball Recap: Stratford Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Stratford Knights were beaten by the Spring Valley Vikings 75-37. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Vikings are ranked 26th).

When it comes to explaining why Stratford lost, don't look at Ciara Mustapher. Despite the final result, she posted 15 points. Mustapher's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Malia Davis was another key player, putting up two points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Stratford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 25 consecutive games.

Stratford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Spring Valley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-8.

As of now, neither Stratford nor Spring Valley have any future games scheduled.
