Softball Recap: Allendale Takes a Loss

Allendale had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-3 to make it six. They fell just short of the Sparta Spartans by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.

Bailey Scholma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Allendale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexie Gunter, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Sparta, they moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 2, 2024.

On Sparta's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Taliya Dauser gave up a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

While Allendale had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
