Thorsby extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 10-5-1 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shelby County Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-11 on Thursday.

Raygan Linville and Alexis (Lexie) Matson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Linville went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Matson went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Matson has snagged this season. Kadence Parker was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Shelby County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

On Shelby County's side, Danslen Connell (2029) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits.

At the plate, Caitlan Bland (2026) was incredible, firing off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Tolleson (2028), who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Thorsby does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shelby County, they will face off against Maplesville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.05 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
