Basketball Recap: Benson Piles Up the Points Against Bryan

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Benson on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Bryan Bears out of the water with a 97-53 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bunnies had established a 31 point advantage.

Benson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Goanar Bamach led the charge by shooting 4-for-7 from deep and dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten boards. The matchup was Bamach's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Carson Jr., who went 9 of 12 on his way to 22 points and three steals.

Despite the defeat, Bryan saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caden Garrett went 6 for 7 en route to 15 points and five boards. Jose Leiva was another key player, putting up ten points.

Benson's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1. As for Bryan, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Benson will face off against Burke at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Benson's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Bryan, they will square off against Omaha South at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
