Volleyball Preview: Union Local Jets vs. Linsly Cadets
On Saturday Union Local will have to hit the road after three straight games at home. They will challenge the Linsly Cadets at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Union Local got the win against Monroe Central by a conclusive 3-0.
While Union Local won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-14, 26-24, 25-21.
Union Local can attribute much of their success to Brooklyn Burley, who had 19 digs. Burley is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last five games she's played.
Meanwhile, Linsly had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Martins Ferry on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Cadets who have now won three contests in a row.
Linsly wouldn't go down easily and took Martins Ferry into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 23-25, 22-25, 25-15, 15-11.
Union Local's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. As for Linsly, their win bumped their record up to an identical 18-2.
Union Local took their victory against Linsly in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 3-0. Will Union Local repeat their success, or does Linsly have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
