Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Central Seminoles vs. Barnesville Shamrocks

The Monroe Central Seminoles will square off against the Barnesville Shamrocks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe Central will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

On Saturday, Monroe Central came up short against Buckeye Trail and fell 10-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Seminoles in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost six in a row.

Caleb Griffith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Barnesville nor Shadyside made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Shamrocks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 3-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Shamrocks in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

The win got Barnesville back to even at 8-8. As for Monroe Central, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Monroe Central couldn't quite finish off Barnesville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Seminoles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
