Basketball Recap: Odessa Falls Short of Oak Grove in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Odessa can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 59-58 to the Oak Grove Panthers. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 47-44.

Oak Grove's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keenan Brady, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. Brady is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 67% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Phillip Nadeau, who posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Odessa and nudges their season record down to 9-15. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. As for Oak Grove, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-14.

Odessa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oak Grove, they will take on Center at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Oak Grove has won four straight at home, while Center won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
