Basketball Recap: North Lenoir Hawks vs. Southwest Onslow Stallions
North Lenoir was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 72-52 to the Southwest Onslow Stallions. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Stallions are ranked 33rd).
Southwest Onslow had a senior duo take command as Rue Chapman posted 13 points and six steals and Malekhi Hutchinson went 5 of 6 on his way to 14 points. Chapman is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Pollock, who had eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
North Lenoir's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Southwest Onslow, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
North Lenoir didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-53 loss against Wallace-Rose Hill on the 8th.
